The Spanish portal on the Cochlear Implant reaches one million visitors PDF Print E-mail

On August 4, the Spanish website www.implantecoclear.org registered one million visitors.

Opened in 1997, soon becoming the first non-commercial site in Spanish on the Cochlear Implant, remain the most important current within the Hispanic world.

Several have been the webmaster responsible for their development and maintenance, stressing the voluntary nature of all of them and still maintained today.

Some curiosities:

  • 5 have been design reforms that have taken place since 1997.
  • one million visits occurred between 17 and 18 hours (Spanish local time, GMT +2) on the day August 4, 2010.
  • The busiest day occurred on June 2, 2010 with 1078 visits.
  • The country from which you receive more visits, ignoring Spain, Argentina.
  • European country from where you are visiting is Portugal.
  • Days there are more visits are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Saturday being the least.
  • More month increase in visits has been in relation to the year 2009 was in February with 29%.
  • Visits from the Americas account for 31.1%.
  • Have received visits from such disparate places as Japan, Australia, South Africa, Jordan, Israel, China ...
  • Since 2001 the website is edited from Zaragoza

We're delighted to welcome Geoff Plant back to The Ear Foundation for our second Twilight Lecture of 2010 Cochlear implants have provided many profoundly deaf people with reliable access to speech, but music remains a more contentious issue, despite great technological advances over the past 20 years.

This presentation will focus on recent attempts to make music a more effective part of CI users' "acoustic environments."

Now taking place at The Ear Foundation, Nottingham UK

A focussed conference exploring the challenges and issues around cochlear implantation for adults, covering a wide range of issues including changing communication needs and recent research outcomes.

We are delighted to be hosting this day in partnership with Geoff Plant and the Hearing Rehabilitation Foundation in the US. Geoff will be joined by a faculty of experts and adult CI users who will bring together current practice, knowledge and experience in the area.

Speakers will include: John Briggs, Lorraine Gailey, Anna Herriman, Brian Lamb, Geoff Plant, Chris Rocca, Alex Wheeler, Nigel Williams, and adult CI users.
